About Raleigh

Could Raleigh have been the model for Brasilia? Who knows? But, the town was built solely to be a state capital, its site chosen due to location. Makes sense, but the location was near Isaac Hunter’s Tavern. You have to admit, in 1788, a legislator may have needed a refreshment after riding on horseback to town. These days, though, the city has more going on. There’s lots of retail shopping and grocery distribution to name a couple of obscure things. John Edwards is a Raleighite. So are Bill Cowher, David and Amy Sedaris, and Evan Rachel Wood, the actress.
