Boylan Bridge Brewpub: Neighborhood brews paired with downtown skyline views

It’s no wonder that owner and architect, Andrew Leager, has a penchant for design.  His vision of turning the large commercial building situated on an unassuming corner on the cusp of the Historic Boylan Heights neighborhood into a dining, drinking and beer brewing establishment was nothing short of inspired.  Across the brick wall that extends from the building and runs the length of the property sits an unobstructed view of the downtown Raleigh skyline that ultimately has become the ideal backdrop for Leager’s brewpub, and a key draw to the popular, casual spot.

Complete with an expansive deck and impressive pergola, both designed and built by Leager, this is the place to be on a sunny afternoon or warm evening with friends and neighbors.  Let the sun go down while enjoying a pitcher of your choice.  All beers are brewed on the premises and range from pale ales to stouts.  The beers run about $4.50-$5.50 per pint or $14-$17 per pitcher. Be sure to mark Tuesday on your calendar as Locals Night.  Every Tuesday, all pints are offered at $1 off.

If you aren’t a beer drinker, no worries, the brewpub offers a limited selection of wines from an assortment of regions including Argentina, Australia, Chile and France, among others.  Wines by the glass are offered at $6-$7.50 or $20-$28 per bottle.

The brews and the view are the main attractions here, but food is served up as well.  Once you make your way to this local favorite enough times, you’ll become familiar with their $10 platter food specials.  Currently, comfort food is slotted for these nightly specials – for instance, Monday serves up Chicken Pot Pie, or wait until Thursday for the Beef Stew Night.  Sandwiches and burgers complete with a side item are also available, mostly priced at $9 or less.

So, come one, come all.  Bring the kids or your pals, kick back at one of the communal picnic tables or surrounding patio tables, and relax under the open sky.  If the weather doesn’t cooperate or is not to your liking, then there is a comfortable inside dining area and handcrafted bar as well.  Just remember to bring your camera to capture the view.

HelloRaleigh Tip:  Curious about beer brewing?  Drop in on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm for a complimentary walk through presentation of the beer making process and on site facility with the brewpub's brewmaster.  Then, of course, stick around and order a round!
